The United Arab Emirates plans to shift half of its government operations to autonomous AI systems within two years, marking one of the most aggressive state-level technology deployments globally.

In a statement shared on his official X account, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed said the government would adopt agentic AI across services, operations, and decision-making systems.

AI Moves Into Core Operations

According to the statement, AI systems will analyze data, make decisions, execute processes, and continuously optimize outcomes in real time. This places artificial intelligence at the core of government operations rather than as a supporting tool.

Instead of limited pilot programs, the UAE is scaling AI across entire institutional functions, including service delivery and internal administrative workflows.

Execution Model Built on Speed and Depth

The rollout follows a strict two-year timeline, with ministries evaluated on adoption speed, implementation quality, and the depth of operational redesign.

This creates a system where performance depends not only on deploying AI, but on restructuring how government work is carried out.

Centralized Oversight at the Highest Level

Execution will be coordinated through a centralized governance structure.

Oversight is assigned to Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, while a dedicated taskforce led by Mohammad Al Gergawi will manage implementation across federal entities.

Workforce Reskilling Becomes a Core Pillar

The plan doesn’t stop at technology. It also invests heavily in people.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed said every federal employee will receive AI training, aiming to build a workforce that can confidently work alongside and manage these systems at scale.

Productivity and Cost Efficiency

Like any large-scale transformation, this shift could introduce new challenges for the UAE. Moving decision-making toward autonomous systems brings risks alongside efficiency gains.
