US Jobs Data Hits Gold as Markets Rethink the Fed’s Next Move

The latest US jobs report did more than beat expectations. It changed the market’s near-term reading of the Federal Reserve. US nonfarm payrolls rose by 172,000 in May, far above the 88,000 expected by economists in a Bloomberg survey. April’s figure was also revised sharply higher, from 115,000 to 179,000.
